We are building a new team able to deliver and participate in complex system designs of embedded medical devices used in the operating rooms globally. The products team will work on complex embedded medical devices developed in alignment with the required medical standards. The scale of the technologies we are dealing with is very wide. From application software hosted on Real-Time Operating Systems down to the hardware abstraction software, firmware and hardware as well.
The successful candidate will become a member of our Novanta R&D center in Brno which is providing a wide range of R&D services for various business units in Novanta. Brno designs full systems end to end from requirements definition up to production handover and lifecycle maintenance as well as platform component of bigger system and related critical competences expertise for global product development teams like WOM. Provide technical and team leadership for the Software development team composed of the full range of seniority designers as well as full stack of SW competences ranging from low-level firmware, OS drivers, middleware up to the front-end designs.
Establish and keep evolving team environment enabling high quality of software development, fast assimilation of best practices and new technologies.
Drive the culture of continuous improvement in the team’s capabilities, operations as well as individual development of team members.
Partner with site leadership, project managers and global cross-functional and business partners on providing high-quality software designs meeting medical software standards.
Provide technical leadership to teammates in the area of software development through coaching and mentorship.
Effectively lead the team and inspire others to achieve goals through innovation, quality, and excellence.
Manage people’s development and team competencies by identifying strengths and weaknesses of team members and suitably driving people and team development in alignment with changing technologies and required capabilities for successful delivery on development projects.
Drive continuous improvement to achieve high standards of software quality within the team by driving best practices and habits.
Drive continuous improvement in the area of effort estimation, schedule compliance, and status reporting. Drive initiatives enabling data-driven estimations for the SW scope of the project.
Review project and work packages proposals and drive technical estimation.
Resource management skills and ability to handle complex/sensitive situations.
Strong communication skills with both internal team members and external business stakeholders.
Leading execution of small, software only, work packages.
Experience in software team management.
Experience with project management is an advantage.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in Czech as well as the English language.
Experience with regaled and/or safety-critical software development in a process-oriented organization.
Experience in product development and manufacturing process.
Experience with waterfall system as well as agile development methodologies including Kanban and Scrum.
Experience with source control management systems and continuous integration/deployment environments.
